A fitting is used in pipe systems to connect straight pipe or tubing sections, adapt to different sizes or shapes and for other purposes, such as regulating fluid flow. Pipe Fittings are used in a piping system to change direction or function, which is mechanically joined to the system. The simplest way to achieve this is to bend the pipe in the direction required, but this process will stretch and thin the outer wall of the pipe whilst thickening and wrinkling, the inner wall of the pipe. Stainlesss Steel Elbow Fittings—Stainlesss Steel Pipe Elbows are installed between two lengths of pipe or tube allowing a change of direction by 180°, 90° or 45°. The ends are machined for Butt Welding when the two ends differ in size, it is called a Reducer or, Reducing Elbow. Pipe Fitting Elbows are available as 180° elbows, 90° elbows or 45° elbows in 1D, 1.5D, 2D, 3D, 5D, 6D, 8D, 10D radius as short and long radius elbows. Stainlesss Steel Stub Ends Pipe Fittings—Stub Ends are installed in pairs and mated together with two Lap-Joint Flanges. The surface of the stub end has a phonographic serrated gasket surface which prevents leakage at the joint. Properties of AISI 309 Stainlesss Steel

309 SS Cold Forming

The alloy is quite ductile and forms in a manner very similar to 316. Cold forming of pieces with long-term exposure to high temperatures is not recommended since the alloy is subject to carbide precipitation and sigma phase precipitants.

309 SS Hot Forming

Heat uniformly at 1742 – 2192°F (950 – 1200°C). After hot forming a final anneal at 1832 – 2101°F (1000 – 1150°C) followed by rapid quenching is recommended.

309 SS Welding

Alloy 309 can be readily welded by most standard processes including TIG, PLASMA, MIG, SMAW, SAW and FCAW.
