Non Return Valve also known as Check Valve, Reflux Valve, or One-way Non Return Valve is a valve that normally allows fluid (liquid or gas) to flow through it in only one direction. A Non Return valve is a backflow prevention device: it allows flow in only one direction. The pressure of forward fluid flow opens the valve disc and the pressure from backflow closes it, forcing the disc against the valve seat. Because of their simple design, Non Return valves generally operate without automation or human interaction and instead rely on the flow velocity of the fluid to open and close. This means they generally do not have a method of outside operation, like a handle or lever. The degree of opening on a Non Return valve is determined by the flow rate. The higher the flow rate, the more open the valve will be until it reaches its maximum, full open position. On many Non Return valves, the full open position is approximately 85 degrees.
