ASTM B473 Round Bar is an austenitic, nickel-iron-chromium based super alloy with additions of Copper and Molybdenum which provide resistance to hostile environments, pitting, and crevice corrosion. Alloy 20 (UNS N08020) round bars was designed specifically to withstand sulfuric acid. Its nickel, chromium, molybdenum and copper levels provide excellent general corrosion resistance. The 33% Nickel in Alloy 20 has practical immunity to chloride stress corrosion cracking.

Alloy 20 Round Bar

Alloy 20 Round Bars is a nickel-chromium alloy bar that contains supplemental amounts of columbium, iron, molybdenum, aluminum, and titanium. Alloy 20 Round Bars have high strength properties, heat treatable, good corrosion resistance, formability and weldability. Alloy 20 Round Bars is commonly used for valves, fasteners, tubing materials and mandrels. Alloy 20 Round Bars has excellent cryogenic and heat ranges. Common uses of Alloy 20 include deployment in gas turbines, subservice safety valves, aircraft engines, thrust reversers, and industrial fasteners.

Scope And Manufacturing

ASTM B473 specification covers UNS N08020 nickel alloy bar and wire. The alloys shall be furnished in the stabilized-annealed condition, solution-annealed condition, or annealed condition. The material shall conform to the requirements as to chemical composition prescribed. The material shall conform to the applicable requirements as to mechanical properties prescribed. Chemical analysis and tension test shall be made to conform to the requirements specified.
