ASTM B424 covers the Alloy 825 sheet plate. The plate or sheet material shall conform to the chemical composition and mechanical property requirements specified by the reference material. Inconel 825 has good impact strength at room temperature and retains its strength at cryogenic temperatures. In both reducing and oxidize environments, the alloy 825 resists general corrosion, pitting, crevice corrosion, intergranular corrosion, and stress-corrosion cracking. Some environments in which Incoloy 825 are particularly useful are sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, sulfur containing fuel gases, sour gas and oil wells, and sea water.

Scope And Manufacturing

Alloy 825 Sheets are heat treated during manufacturing at the mill to develop the optimum combination of stabilization, corrosion resistance, mechanical properties, and formability. Cold rolled sheets and strips come in various conditions: full-hard, half-hard, quarter-hard, and skin-rolled. Full-hard rolling reduces the thickness by 50%, while the others involve less of a reduction. Roll forming, roll bending or plate rolling is a continuous bending operation in which a long strip of metal (typically coiled steel) is passed through consecutive sets of rolls, or stands, each performing only an incremental part of the bend, until the desired cross section profile is obtained. Roll forming is ideal for producing parts with long lengths or in large quantities. There are 3 main processes: 4 rollers, 3 rollers and 2 rollers, each of which has as different advantages, according to the desired specifications of the output plate.
