ASTM B575 - Sheet, Plate and Strips of Hastelloy Alloy

ASTM B575 covers Hastelloy Sheet Plate with UNS N10276 and UNS N06022. Alloy Sheet is 1/4 inch or less in thickness, while Alloy Plate is above 1/4 inch in thickness. Sheet and Plate have different applications. Plate is generally used for larger structural parts like boilers, turbines, bridges and ships. Sheet metal is used in manufacturing of cars, trains, aircraft, farm equipment, office equipment, etc. The difference between Sheet, Plate And Foil is the thickness of the metal, with foil being the thinnest and plate being the thickest. Metal that has been rolled into a sheet having a thickness between foil and plate. The thickness of the product decides the category into which it falls. Plate is defined as a thickness of more than or equal to 0.25 inches, while a sheet has a thickness of 0.006 inches or more but less than 0.25 inches. At the extreme of this perpetuity is a foil that has a thickness of less than 0.006 inches.

Scope And Manufacturing

These Hastelloy Sheet Plate with ASTM B575 and UNS N10276 / UNS N06022 are manufactured through hot or cold rolled process, solution annealed, and descaled unless solution anneal is performed in an atmosphere yielding a bright finish to the sheet. Rolling oil on the cold rolled strip is done during annealing, which is the next process after cold rolling. Annealed coils are lightly rolled by the skinpass mill to prevent a defect called stretcher strain, improve strip shape, and adjust mechanical properties. Product thickness, width, shape, and surface quality are inspected, and mechanical properties are tested using specimens taken at the final outcome.
